Darius Brown learned to sew when he was eight years old with a bit of help from his older sister. Back then, he only wanted to make a tie for himself.

Today, Brown designs and sews bow ties for shelter dogs. The idea is to increase their chances of being adopted.

Brown’s work has been recognized by shelters across the country, the ASPCA, and President Obama.
